Most journals and publishers specify the version of a work that is allowed to be 'self-archived' (i.e. made available on an institutional repository such as Research Online).
Sometimes the publisher version (also known as 'proof' or 'author copy') is permitted. Other times the final manuscript version (also known as 'post-peer reviewed version' or 'post-print') is permitted.
The Library will check the copyright requirements of the work before any version is made available on Research Online. If the Library is unable to determine copyright requirements, we will get in touch by email to discuss suggestions for next steps.
