Network security rules are applied by the University to prevent compromised UOW user accounts and unethical use of Library electronic resources.

If you received an "Access denied" page this means access activities associated with your UOW user account have tripped the security rules. For example, there were multiple incorrect login attempts during a short period of time, or the same user account attempts to access resources from multiple network addresses during a short period of time.

Please email us immediately (lib-erm@uow.edu.au) and we can assist with removing access restrictions. To help the Library investigate the issue and reinstate your access, please include the following information in your email:

  • Your name and UOW email address
  • Date and time that you first noticed your access was restricted and you received the “Access denied" page
  • Information on how you were accessing resources, e.g. connecting to and using a private VPN service; tried to login but kept entering the wrong passwords multiple times; what specific resources you were trying to access etc.
