You may have a key textbook for your subject and you would like students to read a specific chapter each week.

STEP 1. Set up weekly or topic sections if you haven't already

Click NEW SECTION.

STEP 2. Copy the ebook to multiple weeks

1. Click ADD ITEMS+

2. Library SEARCH

3.. Search for the ebook and drag it into week 1 of your list

4. Click the ellipsis for the item and select 'Copy to my collection'. Then click ADD ITEMS+ > My Collection. Then drag the book into each week.

(Other ways to make multiple copies of an item are to click the ellipsis > Copy citation. Or to use the 'Copy to clipboard' function.)

STEP 3. Specify the chapter to be read each week (*or to specify multiple chapters, see below)

1. Click the ellipsis > Edit item.

2. Change the Type from 'Book' to 'Book chapter'.

3. Complete the fields such as chapter title, chapter authors (if different from book authors), chapter number and page numbers.

4. You may wish to add a public note e.g. Please read chapter 9 this week.

ebook in a particular week with book chapter defined

5. Repeat these steps for each instance of the ebook on your list.

*How to specify multiple chapters of the same book to be read in the same week

You can follow the process above for each separate chapter, or you could simply leave the resource type as 'Book' and specify multiple chapters to be read that week using the notes field. (Edit item > Public note)

Book with note: please read chapter 9 (title, page range) and chapter 16 (title, page range).

Note: when students click the electronic link it will take them to the whole ebook and they will still have to navigate to the specific chapter. Including details such as chapter number and page numbers can help students navigate to the correct chapter quickly.
