From 1 February 2025, access to EBSCOhost databases and MyEBSCO Accounts is now authenticated via Single Sign-On (SSO). This means you sign into your MyEBSCO Account using your UOW credentials to access EBSCOhost databases.

The MyEBSCO Account created when you access EBSCOhost Databases via Single Sign-On is a new EBSCO personal account. To ensure seamless access to all your existing saved searches and items, your previously created MyEBSCO Accounts must be merged into your new SSO MyEBSCO Account.

EBSCO will also be removing 'My Custom" folders from MyEBSCO Accounts, so any items currently saved in 'My Custom' foldres will need to be reviewed and moved.

Follow the steps to merge your accounts and review your folder as soon as possible.

IMPORTANT: After 31 May 2025, you won’t be able to access any MyEBSCO Account created before 1 Feb 2025.

To Merge Accounts:

  1. Sign into EBSCO databases from Library SEARCH or the Library A-Z Database list; or directly sign in to the database Education Research Complete (EBSCOhost).
  2. On the database search interface, select 'Update My Account' from the top right corner.
You will now see the account information on your newly created MyEBSCO Account. This account has Affiliations – University of Wollongong.
  3. Scroll down to the 'Merged Account' section, and select 'Get Started.'
  4. Select 'Sign into your second account' button from the following screen and enter your account credentials.
Please note: entering the correct sign in credentials is critical to the account merge process. If you can’t sign in, use the 'Forgot your Password?' option and follow the prompts. If you have trouble with resetting your account password, please contact us by email (lib-erm@uow.edu.au) with your full name, UOW email address and your MyEBSCO Account information.
  5. After signing in to your second account, a 'Merge accounts' page with information from your two accounts is presented.  See the following example; it shows 300 saved articles from the 'Secondary account' will be merged into the current account (the account created via SSO sign in).

Select 'Merge account' and follow the prompts to complete the process.

When you are presented with the following screen, you have completed the account merge process.

Your old MyEBSCO Account will be deleted after the merge is finalised in the EBSCO system. All saved items/records will be moved into the newly created account. You will be notified by email from noreplyaccount@ebsco.com when the account merge is complete.

You can close the browser tab and return to the EBSCO database search interface. You may not see the saved articles and items straight away.
  6. Once you've been notified that the merge is complete, sign into an EBSCO database and click on the 'Folder' icon to review your saved items.

IMPORTANT: This final step is especially important if you used 'My Custom ' folder in your old MyEBSCO Account, as from the 31 May 2025, EBSCO are removing 'My Custom' folder from MyEBSCO Accounts.

Please follow these steps on reviewing the saved items in your MyEBSCO Account and 'My Custom' folder.
